Azarie Dupree Fuller, 23, was convicted of three counts of second-degree murder on Sept. 1, 2026, following a retrial in Orange County Superior Court. Sentencing is set for Sept. 18, 2026; he faces 15 years to life on each murder count, with additional time expected for prior convictions.

On July 9, 2022, a single-vehicle crash at Glassell Street and Taft Avenue in the City of Orange killed three passengers: Gustavo Castro, 26, of Garden Grove; Dayanara Rebolledo, 14, of Tustin; and Dominic McGinley, 17, of Anaheim. Four additional occupants were injured. Orange PD and the Orange County District Attorney's Office led the investigation and prosecution.

At Fuller's first trial, the jury convicted him of causing death while fleeing police and related felonies, but deadlocked 8-4 on the murder counts, prompting a retrial. In the retrial, the jury returned guilty verdicts on all three second-degree murder counts. A second-degree murder finding under California law requires proof of implied malice — that the defendant acted with a conscious disregard for human life — rather than premeditation.
