Jianquan Bo, 66, remains held without bail at West Valley Detention Center. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 17, 2026, when a San Bernardino County judge will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to send him to trial on charges of murder (PC 187) with special allegations of aiding and abetting a kidnapping and firearm use (case FWV26002653). No public reporting has emerged on the outcome of the Aug. 12 pre-preliminary hearing. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department has not publicly established a motive.

On the night of July 29, 2026, according to SBSD accounts relayed by ABC7 and the OC Register, power failed at Shukur Aikebaer's Monteverde Drive home in Chino Hills. When he went outside to the electrical panel, two men — later identified as Irvine residents Zhengfeng Bo and Jianquan Bo — allegedly shot him and forced him into the trunk of a Nissan Altima. His wife and daughter were inside the house at the time, per the LA Times.

A short pursuit ended on the 2400 block of Wandering Ridge Drive. Jianquan surrendered. Zhengfeng opened the trunk and shot Aikebaer as deputies watched; deputies then fatally shot Zhengfeng. Both Aikebaer and Zhengfeng were pronounced dead at the scene. Jianquan was booked on suspicion of murder and kidnapping.

On July 30, deputies served a search warrant at the brothers' shared home in the Crossover/Benchmark area of Irvine's Great Park and reported recovering evidence. SBSD released the identities on July 31 and said Zhengfeng Bo and Aikebaer knew each other through a prior working relationship.

On Aug. 3, 2026, San Bernardino County DA Jason Anderson announced formal murder and kidnapping charges against Jianquan Bo. Per the DA, the murder charge rests on the theory that Bo allegedly planned and aided in the kidnapping and harm that led to the victim's death. Jianquan was arraigned Aug. 4 at Rancho Cucamonga, pleaded not guilty, and denied all allegations.

California Secretary of State filings (entity #4216208) list Zhengfeng Bo as CEO and director of Panshi Inc., an Irvine-registered investment firm formed in 2018, and Aikebaer — under the name Aikebaer Abuduxukuer — as its secretary and registered agent; the LA Times described him as the company's CFO and secretary. Panshi's registered address is the Bo residence in Great Park, which property records cited in press reporting show Bo has owned since 2018.

Per the LA Times, Bo, Panshi, and another associate lent the developers of a roughly $20 million Pasadena apartment complex more than $2 million, at least some of it unrepaid. Three LA Superior breach-of-contract cases were filed Feb. 17, 2026 against the developer, The Madison Collection LLC:

Public case summaries show defaults entered March 30. On July 27 the court set aside the default in the Panshi case and Madison Collection answered the same day (counsel Kelvin J. Lo). Also that day, plaintiffs' attorney Michael Chen filed a new claim seeking to remove Madison's property managers and transfer control to Panshi; the filing accuses Madison of months of stonewalling over books and bank accounts. Aikebaer was killed two days later. That timing is a documented fact for readers — not a judicial finding of motive, which SBSD has not established.

Chen told the Times that Aikebaer was the "middleman" between Panshi and Madison and is not a plaintiff in the suits, and that as far as he knew there was nothing adversarial between Bo and Aikebaer: "But obviously, something happened."
